Our Rating:

Official Site: Magnet Energy

There’s a new product to hit the market which has us excited, and in this Magnet Energy Review we’ve been asked to take a look at how you can implement magnetic renewable energy as part of a complete ‘off the grid’ strategy at home.

Energy 4 Living has also organized a special discount coupon which means you get to own your own copy of Magnet Energy for $10 less - and its only available to our readers! At the end of our review we’ll show you how to claim this special discount.

Lets get started:

Magnetic Energy As A Renewable Energy Source

If you’re not familiar with the concept of magnetic renewable energy, you’re not alone.  It isn’t as prolific as more mainstream forms of alternative energy such as wind and solar power, which has no doubt been due to the fact that the fundamentals which underlie magnetic energy are more challenging than other options.  That’s been a shame, because the benefits of magnetic energy are just as compelling as solar and wind power, but as we’ll see below, aren’t reliant on external factors like sun or wind.

The good news is, systems like Magnet Energy are emerging which cut through the mumbo jumbo and allow lay folk like you and I to construct and utilize magnetic renewable energy without having to understand the laws of physics, energy fields and electricity that make it so.  It’s a welcome addition to domestic conservation and we believe is set to play a growing role in households ‘living off the grid’.

So what is magnet energy?  In a nutshell, its derived from a device which incorporates the use of fixed magnets spinning on a rotor to generate a magnetic energy which is then circuited to and harnessed by a storage unit (battery or into your home grid).  The magnetic fields create perpetual motion, which means magnetic energy isn’t just alternative, it is essentially self sustaining.  The creator of Magnet Energy boasts that the energy created by a magnetic field is considered perpetual because it could run off that one source for over a millennium.  If ours lasts even one tenth of that, we’ll be very happy campers indeed.

The Facts

Magnet Energy starts off with a welcome surprise.  Rather than sticking strictly to the topic at hand, it actually provides a helpful overview of smart home conservation practices.  This section of the product alone can potentially provide an energy saving of 10-15%, and that was before we’d even built anything!  It opened our eyes to some of the more power hungry devices in the home and hints at the commitment of the author to genuine home conservation.

We then receive a more detailed explanation of magnetic renewable energy (there’s also a simple version for those of us who subscribe to the belief that ignorance is bliss - in other words, we don’t care so much how it works, just that it does).

What follows is a lesson in understanding grid systems and the elements needed to implement a portable or fixed system in your home to harness magnetic energy.  There’s also a summary of each of the components.  We know from past experience with solar and wind devices that many of those components are common to each alternative energy system, which makes the cost of implementing them together a lot cheaper.

The Nitty Gritty

We’ve found that with any of these types of home energy systems one of the biggest concerns with DIY products are:

- Will we have all the gear we need to do it.

- Will we be told exactly what parts are required.

- Will we be given enough detail to construct it so that it works.

We think Magnet Energy ticks all the relevant boxes and here’s why.

Firstly, the only tools needed which might not already be part of your arsenal is a solder iron and an amp or multi meter.  We already had both but you can pick them up cheaply at any local hardware store.

Secondly, the guide provides the exact shopping list of parts required to build your magnet generator, and for US, UK and Canadian readers there’s also details of suppliers from who you can get the relevant parts.  For Australians, you’ll be able to pick them up from Bunnings and Dick Smith (for around $200).

Now, we don’t mind admitting that of our DIY energy projects, this is the most ‘techy’.  You don’t have to have an in depth knowledge of electronics to make the generator, but it helps when it comes to trouble shooting.  The instructions set out each process step by step, with pictures for the more fiddly parts and  schematics for each stage of construction.  Whilst it requires a little bit more finesse, it certainly lacks the manual labor required to construct wind or solar power generators.  There’s also a FAQ section at the end which helps answer any nagging queries you have during construction, and if you snag a problem we’ve found the author to be quite responsive.

Magnetic generators have the capacity to produce around 7000 watts of power.  Once started, the generator is not reliant on sun, wind or external factors, takes up very little space, and is entirely pollution free.

The Skinny

Is there a downside?  Getting the balance and form of the components can take a bit of work, and we’ve always liked the Ikea style ‘foolproof’ instructions for assembly, but there’s plenty of detail contained inside in terms of the physical construction.  Even though incorporating the energy produced by the magnet generator into your home grid or portable power supply is probably the easiest part of the process, more detail here would have assisted those completely new to the concept of alternative energy at home.

On balance, we think Magnet Energy has some really solid content and great potential to add a first or additional element to your home power supply.  The output for what is ultimately a compact and easily maintained system gives it some major edges over bulkier alternatives, and to have it all set up for under $200 makes it a no brainer.

$10 Off Magnet Energy
